April 30th - Another day without changes in James' condition. Thank you for your faithful prayers.
April 29th - No change in James' condition today. Please continue to pray as a second opinion is still being sought.
April 28th - James had dialysis today and received two units of blood. Still high white counts and fever. A second opinion is being sought in the hope of surgically removing the infected tissue deep inside James' body. In the past we have been told this approach is impossible, but the doctors are seeking outside opinions again. They are diligently trying every means possible to rid James of this terrible infection. Please pray that if this surgery can be successfully performed that the Lord will direct the critical care team to the right surgeons. Whatever the outcome we trust in God's sovereignty. "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, says my soul, therefore I will hope in Him," Lamentations 3:22 - 24. "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps," Proverbs 16:9.
April 27th - The test on James' infection in the pelvic cavity has come back positive. The infection is still there. James still has fever and high white counts. Please continue to pray for James as the doctors will be discussing the results over the next few days and what, if anything, may be changed in his treatment.
April 25th - James was about the same today. Still high white blood cell counts, fever, but no dialysis. A test on the pelvic infection was performed by the radiologist today. These results can take up to 72 hours. This area, as you know, is what has not responded to antibiotics and the biggest concern in James' recovery. Please pray for wisdom as the doctors make their evaluations, that there will be no sign of infection, and that this will be a turning point in James' healing.

His temperature had been normal for the past few days, but has gone up this evening to 100. April 19th - For the second day in a row, James did not have dialysis. And he is off the medication for blood pressure support. His fever is down, too. Overall, today was a fair day and we rejoice in this! However, please remember that even with small signs of improvement in one day do not change the fact that James is still critical and very sick. The doctors have always advised us not to get too excited on good days, and not to get too upset on bad days. This is a long road and we still do not know what the outcome will be. Please pray that James will continue to have days of improvement leading to complete healing. In all things we trust our sovereign God!

His pressure is still too low to come off the medication and we are praying it will stabilize overnight. The results of the CAT scan show no marked changes in the pelvic infection. The high white blood cell counts are attributed to this infection and his wounds. Good news today - no fever. Praise be to our gracious God.

A CAT scan was performed late today, not only to evaluate the pelvic infection, but also to determine if their is another reason for the persistent fever. The results will be available in the next day or two.
April 10th - James' fever reached nearly 102 today so the infectious disease doctor has again taken a variety of cultures to determine the cause.
